Struggling to start the New Year

I am really struggling to get into the swing of the new year. I can't seem to get my head around the fact that it is January and I need to be all proactive and filled with New Year's resolutions. Instead I seem to be struggling to get up in the morning, let alone earn a living, clean the house, brush my hair and do all those other things that we should tackle with savoir faire and enthusiasm. Is it just me?

I normally like January. I like getting Christmas out of the way and having a clean slate that I can scribble all over indecisively.

I blame the snow. It has given me a strange extended holiday from the world and now I can't seem to reconnect. Instead my urge to hibernate has emerged and is constantly snarling at me that I should be eating fattening things and sleeping through the bad weather. As a result of this I am barely distinguishable from this:

So to all those wannabe hibernators out there. You are not alone.

Mmm, I think you need to get right out of there! I was beginning to suffer from an inability to get on and do anything too. Having battled my way out, a couple of days in Oxford have left me all bouncy again. I think it must be some form of snow madness. Another friend who has been similarly cut off from the world reported just the same thing. I am ignoring Mud and her Singapore heat, just don't want to hear!

Not only is it January, I realised today that it's nearly the END of January! The month's disappeared so fast that I haven't even got round to spending my wages, and it's payday again next week. I've NEVER still got money left the week before payday...

Yours is the third blog today that has expressed this notion. My blog doesn't have a post about this because I am so apathetic that I just can't be bothered. It's the scourge of january I fear. Here's hoping February is a little more dynamic.

I think its just the weather, lack of daylight and general lack of vitamin D. I've posted something similar on my blog over the past few days.

You're not alone. Summer is will soon be here! :)

Yep january blues/monday blues whatever. I have decided to re start my year on Feb 1st, which is a Monday. So everything will be new. To that end I have at least a week to get organised to start all over again....if I can get enough energy to get out of bed on time!

You want to hibernate? The Bear understands that. Definitely!
How does loyal hound feel about hibernating with you?

That bear looks so comfortable! I have been hibernating for a month now and as there is snow forecast for Brussels tonight, I am definitely not going to get up ... well, perhaps to make a cup of tea, but on the other hand, someone might make it for me!

Oh yes, no wanna-be about it. I'm in hibernia over here. Apathy abounds.

Luckily, I have a deadline, that is my whip since the carrot seems to have failed, or maybe it fell off somewhere along the way??

ElizabethM - I dream of heat at the moment. Sadly the bank statement says that there will be no holidays this year. Perhaps I'll buy a sunlamp?
Bevchen - You have money? OOOOh. I'm jealous..
Home Office Mum - I think it was to do with the strange blue moon that was floating around in January. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Steve - I think you are right. Even chocolate doesn't seem to be fixing this one. Summer? What's that?
Tattie Weasle - I went for February 2nd, got loads done then slumped back into winter inertia again. Darn.
Rob-bear - the Loyal Hound actively encourages hibernation as he looks on me as his own electric blanket and if I sit down, he immediately curls up next to me, making it even harder to get up...
Dragon Days - Hope someone made that tea for you, maybe with cake as well?
Lynne - no carrots or whips are working for me at the moment. I must get on with my life. Aaargh
